Trimethyl orthoformate (HC(OCH₃)₃) 99% purity. A synthetic building block used for introduction of the formyl group in organic synthesis, for preparation of dimethyl acetals from aldehydes under mild conditions, and in synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. Also used as a formylating agent for amines and for protection of carbonyl groups.
