Trimethyl orthoacetate (CH₃C(OCH₃)₃) 99% purity. A mild alkylating agent used in organic synthesis for formation of methyl esters from carboxylic acids under neutral conditions (orthoester method), in protection of carboxyl groups, and as a transesterification reagent. Particularly useful where strong acid or base conditions are incompatible with sensitive substrates.
