Description
Phthalic anhydride (C₈H₄O₃) LR grade. A reactive cyclic anhydride used in synthesis of phthalate plasticisers, alkyd resins, and dye intermediates, in hydroxyl number determination of polyols by the phthalic anhydride-pyridine acetylation method, and in teaching laboratories for acylation and condensation reaction demonstrations. Handle in a fume cupboard; phthalic anhydride vapour is a respiratory irritant. LR grade is suitable for synthetic and preparative applications.
