Whatman 1PS is a silicone-treated phase-separator filter paper that allows organic solvents to pass freely while retaining the aqueous phase. Replaces a separating funnel in routine liquid–liquid extraction — fold and place in a funnel and the organic phase drains through while the aqueous phase is retained above. Used in environmental analysis, food chemistry, pharmaceutical QC, and organic synthesis workups.
