Description
Whatman No. 3 is a thicker, more absorbent qualitative filter paper than No. 1, with slightly finer retention (6µm nominal) and greater loading capacity. Well suited to applications requiring additional paper thickness and absorbency, including thin-layer chromatography backing and filtration of larger sample volumes. Also used for general qualitative filtration where the extra body of No. 3 is beneficial over the thinner No. 1.
