Description
Lactose monohydrate (C12H22O11·H2O) AR grade is used as a substrate in lactase (beta-galactosidase) enzyme activity assays, in preparation of selective and differential culture media (e.g. MacConkey agar for lactose fermentation testing), and as an osmoprotectant in cell preservation media. AR grade ensures low heavy metal content and consistent water of crystallisation for accurate microbiological and biochemical work.
