Gold(III) chloride solution 1% w/v. Used in photographic toning and archival processing of silver prints, in synthesis of gold nanoparticles by reduction with citrate or other reducing agents, in preparation of gold AAS calibration standards, and in qualitative spot tests for tin(II) (purple of Cassius reaction). Ready-to-use solution eliminates preparation hazards of concentrated chloroauric acid.
