Ethanol absolute (≥99.5% C₂H₅OH) AR grade. Used as a solvent for preparation of reagent and staining solutions, in UV and IR spectrophotometry where low water content is critical, in extraction and precipitation of nucleic acids and proteins, and as a reaction medium in anhydrous synthesis. AR grade ensures minimal water, aldehyde, and non-volatile residue. A permit may be required for purchase in some states.
