Description
Diethyl ether anhydrous (Et2O) AR grade, stabilised with BHT to retard peroxide formation. Used as a solvent in Grignard and other moisture-sensitive reactions, in Soxhlet lipid extraction (fat determination), and in liquid-liquid extraction of non-polar analytes. Extremely flammable — use in a fume cupboard away from all ignition sources. Test for peroxide formation before use with heated or reducing systems.
