Description
Chloroform (trichloromethane, CHCl3) AR grade, stabilised with ethanol to inhibit phosgene formation. Used as a solvent for lipid and alkaloid extraction, in liquid-liquid partitioning, and in spectroscopic sample preparation. Note: the ethanol stabiliser may interfere in protic-sensitive applications — use the amylene-stabilised grade where ethanol contamination must be avoided. AR grade ensures low impurity levels. Suspected carcinogen — use in a fume cupboard with appropriate PPE.
