Description
Butyryl chloride (butanoyl chloride, CH₃CH₂CH₂COCl) 98% purity. An acylating agent used in synthesis of butyrate esters and N-butyryl amides, in Friedel-Crafts acylation reactions, in preparation of butyrate protecting groups in carbohydrate chemistry, and as an intermediate in pharmaceutical synthesis. Lachrymatory and corrosive; handle in a fume cupboard with appropriate PPE.
