Description
Bromothymol blue (BTB) free acid is a sulfonphthalein pH indicator with a colour transition from yellow (pH 6.0) to blue (pH 7.6). Used as an acid-base indicator in titrimetric analysis, in CO₂ detection demonstrations for photosynthesis experiments, and as a tracking dye in gel electrophoresis. The free acid form is dissolved in ethanol or dilute alkali for preparation of working indicator solutions. LR grade is suitable for educational and general laboratory use.
