Description
Benedict's solution is a modified copper sulfate reagent used to detect reducing sugars including glucose, fructose, lactose, and maltose. A positive reaction produces a colour change from blue through green and yellow to a brick-red precipitate, with the depth of colour indicating approximate sugar concentration. A standard reagent in educational laboratories and clinical urinalysis demonstrations for qualitative glucose detection.
